By His Alone

Through His Words Alone
Read: Matthew 8 : 1 - 13
"Jesus out His hand and touched him saying, "I am willing; be cleansed." And immediately his leprosy was cleansed."
"Then Jesus said to the centurion, "Go your way; and as you have believed, so let it be done for you." And his servant was healed that same hour."

By His Will Alone
Most of the times, we prevent a miracle to happen in our lives, not that it doesn't happen anymore, but simply because we have misplaced our faith and trust where it should properly belong.

In today's scripture, we will see how the two men who have asked Jesus for help already believed and trusted Him that He can grant their request, what matters is they recognized that it is not whether they believe or not the Jesus can do it for them, but whether Jesus is willing and able. But what we will see He is not only willing and able he is even generous to those that seek Him.

He is Willing
As hard it may sound, but Jesus is willing to heal us, to help us and to provide for us. All we need to do is ask and believe that He will answer our prayer. That is what happen when the man with leprosy approached Him and told Him that if He is willing He can make him clean. The man recognize that his cleansing depends on God, on Jesus, and on their authority. He does not take it against Jesus but are rather submissive to His will.

And Jesus have shown that He is willing to cleanse us, to heal us and to restore us to our good health, good body and great spirit, all we have to do is ask. Because it shows that we are dependent on Him and that we trust Him that He is willing to do these things for us. All we have to do is ask.

He is Generous
Jesus is not only compassionate to His people, the Jews, but also to those who are outside of them, the gentiles. We see that when a centurion approached Him and asked for His help, He is not only willing to help him but generous enough to give him His time and effort by offering to come to his house and heal his servant.

But we are shown how great is the faith of this man to Jesus, He doesn’t need to bother Jesus to come and heal his servant, all he need is His word. What a tremendous faith. The man recognizes Jesus authority and power over sickness, disease and perhaps even in death. He knows that His Words alone would suffice, he knows because he too is a man in authority, He even provides example why he believed that Jesus is a man of authority, and being a man in  authority all he need to do is give his word and people follow. That's why he believe that all He needs is Jesus command, Jesus Word and Jesus will, and his servant will be healed.

Jesus, is not only willing but also generous enough to help even those outside of His chosen people. He is willing to go out of His way just so to help us and to heal us.

He is Able
Jesus was amazed on the faith he have seen from the man, He even proclaimed that He had not seen such great faith amongst His people. He also prophesied that time will come, people from other nation will also dine in His kingdom among His people, much more than His own people.

As a result, because of the man's faith, Jesus was able to show that He is capable and able to do such as the man have hoped for. The moment He have told the man to go and as he have believed it will be done, at that exact moment, the man's servant was healed.

By His Will Alone
PERSONAL APPLICATION
When we pray and ask God for something, we must pray and believe that if it's His will, He is generous enough and able to grant us our prayers. Here are some practical tips we may consider when we are asking for Him in our prayers:
  1. Know that He is Willing - more than we might realize, God is willing to answer and grand us our prayers, but we must also realize that God has a plan for us, this two must coincide. All we have to do is ask.
  2. Know that He is Generous - we might be surprise but God also wants to prosper us, to bless us and to take care of us. He wants us to enjoy life, His creation and His provision. Try asking Him, if we are ready for His blessings, and we will not lose focus or sight on the true blessings, we just might be surprise how generous God can really be.
  3. Know that He is able - our belief and our faith must show that God is able. He is able to heal us, to clean us and to restore us. He is also able to prosper us, to bless us and to provide for us. He is able to do all these things, we just have to believe and ask.
